GSM measures how much fabric weighs per square meter—essentially its thickness and density. In woven wraps, it's a key indicator of support, warmth, and feel.

GSM Ranges & What They Mean:

GSM Matters—but Isn't Everything:

  • Weave structure influences feel: a light-wrap weave at 260 g/m² can feel thinner than a tightly woven 230 g/m² wrap

  • Personal preference plays a big part: some users love the feel of thick, cushy wraps; others prefer slim, cool wraps—even for toddlers

Tips for Choosing a GSM:

  • Beginners often find thin–medium wraps (200–260 g/m²) easiest for learning while still offering good support
  • Over 300 g/m² may be supportive but can be hard to wrap snugly—better suited for experienced users .
  • Lightweight wraps excel in summer, though a loosely woven thick wrap can also remain breathable

GSM is a great starting point to gauge wrap thickness, but always consider weave, fiber, and how you feel carrying your baby. A mid-weight wrap tends to offer the best all-round performance—but ultimately, comfort and confidence matter most.
